Cankurt Mansion

The owner of the mansion, which is estimated to have been built in the second half of the 19th century, before the exchange is known as Pastika Vasil. Today, the mansion is known by the surname of the Cankurt family, who settled in the house after the population exchange. The mansion, which was previously used as a house and continued to function the same for a long time, has recently been restored for commercial use. It is a two-storey building with a flat facade and a flat roof. The main entrance door of the mansion is located on the east facade. The double-winged door is arched and made of wood, and has two eagle depictions on it. The walls of the mansion, which was built with the masonry technique, are made of stone; Wooden materials were used in door, ceiling and window elements. On the facade of the building, there is a “life” structure, examples of which can be found in other Ottoman houses. In addition to this place consisting of two columns and three arches; The stone consoles visible on the facade, supporting the protrusions and also used as decoration elements, enliven the facade. Such decorative elements on the facades are found not only in Mustafapaşa but also in many houses in the region. On the east wall of the main room of the mansion, there are wall paintings that are covered with plaster and are partially visible. In one of the pictures, the Greek text “Europa” (EYPΩΠH) can be read. Although the depictions cannot be fully understood today because the murals are damaged, it is known that mythological scenes consisting of human figures painted in large sizes were depicted here before.
